Forest & Bird is New Zealand’s leading independent conservation organisation — protecting wildlife and wild places, on land and in the sea.

Since 1923 Forest & Bird has played a crucial role in preserving New Zealand’s environment and native species.

Forest & Bird and Birds New Zealand maintain a close working relationship, in particular for fostering and supporting the wider knowledge and enjoyment of birds and habitats in New Zealand and South Pacific regions and their conservation. A Memorandum of Understanding between the two Societies was agreed on in 2002 and amended in 2020.
